Currently, Ocean Naturals albacore tuna comes from the North Pacific, where this resource is effectively managed by the Northern Committee of the Inter American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC).
In addition, these fish are caught the old fashioned way, by pole and troll vessels, one fish at a time.
This fishing method is very selective, with nearly zero catch of any non-target (bycatch) or sensitive species, limiting our environmental footprint.
Also, these smaller-scale operators support vibrant fishing communities along the West Coast of the U.S. and Canada, helping maintain an important heritage.
